After a long spell in the country, I am back and posting.
Just keep in mind posting in the next week or so may be somewhat hindered because I am going to be working for the New York Jets.
Thanks.

New Orleans Zephyrs pitcher Mike Pelfrey, will be called up, again, to the Mets. Pelfrey will pitch in place of Oliver Perez, who is having trouble with his back. The move to make room for Pelfrey, is unfortunately placing Jorge Sosa, one of the studs of the Mets staff this year, on the DL, with a hammy injury he suffered HUSTLING to first base. Not everyday a pitcher hustles down the line. The Mets, who are 1 game off their pace of their win loss record last year 80 games into the season, will be looking for the sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, when they face off against yet another inexperienced pitcher. Lets Go Mets! Wednesday, June 27

I counted at least three times when Gary Cohen said that Jason Isringhausen's curveball "ballooned" high.
Yeah, once is enough, Baldilocks.

Scott Schoenweis revealed earlier in the season that he is pitchng through a severed tendon in his hamstring.
And Willie Randolph continues to put him into high pressure spots. I saw an ad for the biggest waste of time show today on SNY, Daily News Live with Gary Apple (biggest looking douchebag). And in the ad, there's Scott Schoenweis is laughing it up in a brief clip of an interview, saying he has an ERA of about 105. Quite funny, if you ask me *cue rimshot*. Then Schoenweis comes in in the 11th inning. I almost lost it. There was a specific reason that Schoen-waste was booed off the field. The next time they, and by they I mean Willie, bring in Schoenweis again, I'll be forced to put a 9-millimeter to my temple. Leave the rest up to your imagination. Oh, and for those of you scoring at home, I did coin a new nickname for Scott Schoenweis (see Paragraph 4) Tuesday, June 26

The same play. It was the same exact play twice.
And Jose Valentin made an error on it twice. Well, you hit a game-tying triple, you got to smile about it for about 10 minutes, still smiling even after Julio Franco grounds out to second base. That's fine. What's very funny, to me, is how you make an error on the same exact play twice. Smile it up, Jose.

After reading many articles in the newspaper and listening to his WFAN interview today, I now know more than ever that Paul Lo Duca does not "cuss."
I know that Lo Duca grew up in Brooklyn, and I, until now, thought that only southerners and hicks who chew wheat in their spare time used the word cuss. Apparently not. That can't be the case, unless Lo Duca grew up in Little Rock. What a hillbilly. Break out the Moonshine, Duke. Monday, June 25

I am going to my third Mets game this year, which, for me, is an extremely low number. I'm usually at 8 or 9 by this point.
Needless to say, after having a 9-16 record in going to games last year, I am 2-0 so far this year. However, the Mets will be throwing out lowly (lately) starter Jorge Sosa, who has been in a major rut lately. After pitching 8 shutout innings against Detroit, Sosa has been pounded for 13 runs in his last 9 innings. This game is huge to win, since it is the Cardinals first game back to Shea since the NLCS Game 7. I'd really hate to go to the Mets game, eat my Lioni's sandwich and watch the Mets lose 13-4. Uggghhhhh...

Oliver Perez looked horrible last year, and then would throw a great game for the Mets. In a nutshell, he was inconsistent.
Last year, however, Tom Glavine was consistent, throwing you a solid 6 innings, allowing 3 runs, or somewhere in that ballpark. Things have gone wacky. Perez, aside from two starts this year, has been consistently good all season long. As a matter of fact, he has only allowed more than three runs in a start in only three starts this year. Not bad. However, Glavine, after having a above average April, had a mediocre May where he posted a 2-2 record, and then he had a horrible June allowing 9 runs and 7 runs consecutively. And then you get a start like Friday, where Glavine goes 8 innings and allows one run. Have Glavine and Perez switched bodies? Has Perez become Mr. Consistent? Has Glavine become Mr. Inconsistent?

From time to time, I throw in my two cents about movies I have recently
seen. Well, listen up to what I have to say about Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carrell, who I happen to love John Goodman, who has eaten his share of butter sticks since Roseanne and Wanda Sykes, who is hilariousI was bored tonight, so I decided to go to the movie theater with my friends. Considering I already saw Knocked Up, which was great, I decided I would see Evan Almighty, by default of course. If you're looking to bring your kids to a movie, or just want a good movie to pull a Pee Wee Herman in, this isn't the movie. Let's just say it was no 40 Year Old Virgin. In fact, the only thing this movie was good for was hooking up with a chick or spending 15 dollars to watch garbage. My rating...? *+ Suck it, Carrell. Sunday, June 24

For whatever reason, Willie Randolph seemed reluctant to ever sit down Carlos Delgado this entire season, although he has been slumping all the way throughout these past three months.
Well, today, Randolph finally gave Delgado a breather, and started Shawn Green at first base. It was about time. When you started dropping him down in the order, and that doesn't work, well, what's the next obvious action to take? I've been crying for this to happen for the past month or so. Willie must be a frequent reader...

John Smoltz and Chipper "The Chip" Jones are fighting amongst themselves.
What a shame. It really, truly is. ..smoltz... "You
can't worry about who's in the lineup and who isn't. You can't
worry about that stuff anymore. I certainly appreciate the effort of the guys
who are on the field busting it." ...chip... "I'd be stupid if I didn't take it the same way, (I plan to) play the rest of the games this year and do
whatever I can. Somebody I know better not miss a start. I got nothing to say, he made his point
through the media. Now I'm going to make my point through the
media. If he doesn't want to do it man to man, then fine." ...where's Don King when you need him?...Saturday, June 23

I was cracking up hysterically and clapping my hands when Paul Lo Duca went ape shit over umpire Marvin Hudson's questionable strike call.
Throwing stuff? He reminds me of Paul O'Neill. This was hilarious. I've wanted this for so long. A fieryy argument to jumpstart the team. And it payed off.

A few callers called up Evan Roberts this morning on WFAN and suggested that even if Carlos Beltran makes the trip to San Francisco for this year's All-Star game, he shouldn't play in it due to his sore quad.Roberts disagreed with a large amount of the callers, saying that 3 innings of low-impact baseball won't affect the quadricep to an advanced degree, also saying that too many players in the past have lessened the significance of the All-Star game by not playing in it. I, however, disagree with Roberts in the fact that the Mets have been trying to give Beltran rest over the past few weeks, but really could not due to the depletion of the outfield, be it Endy Chavez, Lastings Milledge or Moises Alou. The three games off would be great for Beltran in my mind. He's been hitting pretty nicely lately, and we wouldn't want him to ruin it by tweaking anything, would we? Friday, June 22

I was looking at the poll for WFAN's 20th anniversary, and came across Gary Cohen's priceless call for when Roger Clemens threw the end of the bat at Mike Piazza.
Here's a text version of the call... "The outfield straight away against Piazza, Clemens winds, here's the 1-2 pitch, broken bat foul ball to the right side, and the barrel of the batcame out to Clemens and he throws it back! And Piazza's walking out toward the mound, and now the home plate umpire Charlie Relaford gets in between 'em. Piazza points to himself, and so does Clemens, and they are being seperated, and the benches are emptying! I don't know what Clemens had in mind. Piazza broke his bat and the barrel of the bat went out towards the mound, a total coincidence, and Clemens picked it up and he threw it back towards Piazza! Is Clemens out of his mind? What was he thinking?" It's great. I love the last part.

Alberto Castillo hit his first home run of the season last night for the Baltimore Orioles.
That's gr- Wait...The Alberto Castillo? Yes, the Castillo who used to catch for the New York Mets in the mid 90s. Wow. I thought that guy was dead. He was actually a great guy, the Pedro Martinez of the horrible Mets in the mid and late 90s. I feel old. |
