The Mets have fired hitting coach Rick Down and replaced him with Rickey Henderson, according to WFAN and other various sources.
That's right, Rickey Fucking Henderson.
I've been crying for Down to be gone for a long time. He doesn't seem to very vocal from what I've seen for the past few years watching Mets games, although you can't argue with last year's results.
I hope Rickey doesn't get too cocky with the Mets.
But I am on the record for being 100% for this move.

Tony La Russa
had a long night, a long week for that matter. A few long plane rides,
bus rides etc. The guy had to have a few drinks to take the edge off.
The ensuing intoxication caused him not to put in Albert Pujols off the bench and to decide to use this genius quote after Pujols was publicly angry at La Russa after the game."If he wants to get upset, he can get upset," La Russa said. "Whatever he wants to do, he can do. It's America. That wasn't the most important thing tonight." Hmm, what was the most important thing? I'm pretty sure it was the game. Tony La Russa, the players and especially the MLB administration have done their best to ruin the Midsummer-Classic, with "making it count" and bullshit musical performances before the game, it's just stupid. The game was supposed to start at 8 and of course, all of the festivities lasted until about 8:45, meaning younger children will maybe be able to watch a few innings, but that's about it. Ridiculous job by Tony "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night" La Russa, as always. |
