Darryl Hamilton was an outfielder who played for the Mets for 2 1/2 seasons, from 1999-2001.
Hamilton, who backed up, along with Benny Agbayani, the outfield of Rickey Henderson, Roger Cedeno and Brian McRae in 1999, played never more than 55 games in a season for the Mets, whether it be because of lingering injuries or just as him playing as a backup. He had 7 HR and 32 RBI in his 160 total games with the Mets.
"Hambone", as he was called, is now 42 and retired in 2001 after 13 seasons in the bigs.
He was originally drafted in 1986 by the Milwaukee Brewers, and was acquired by the Mets from the Rockies by way of trade. The Mets traded away Rigo Beltran and Brian McRae in return for Hamilton and Chuck McElroy.
Hamilton, in his 13 big league seasons, played for the Brewers, Rangers, Giants, Rockies and Mets, a total of 5 teams.
